How is it meaningless? Personally (as a developer), I realize that VM != 
actual physical memory usage, but 'physical memory used' tells me 
nothing about the process' footprint. It is nice for performance 
monitoring but tells me nothing about how much memory a process is 
addressing, which is typically more important to me (otherwise, how do I 
know how close a process is to malloc() failing?).
