obvious solution (which leads me to think there must be an obvious reason not 
to do it this way ;): 

take the survey offline for a few minutes, invert the numbers in the database 
(easy enough to do: update answerstable set answer13 = abs(answer13 - 7); ), 
fix the question in the survey and then put the survey back up.
