here's an interesting set of factoids about kicker:

	nearly every first time user needs to be told about the applications menu
	there are a half dozen or so configuration options that "tweakers" often a=
sk=20
about, but nobody else cares about
	there are rarely any questions on how to use kicker

for an application with as many features as kicker has, including its=20
suboptimal configuration system, this is rather remarkable.

hm. i don't think so. if everybody who had an idea posted an article on the=

looking for developers to implement that idea we'd be inundated with articl=

that wouldn't end up leading anywhere. now... find a developer or two and g=

this totally fails on lower resolution screens and does not look particular=

more useful. the toolbar seems to have been usurped for a very complex side=

bar. btw, apple these type of "attached but external sidebar" things in=20
mail.app and it fell on its face.

i also think it's largely a solution looking for a problem. kmail's compose=
r=20
(shown in your screenshot) really doesn't present huge issues for the user.=

what would the sidebar provide, really?

a context sensitive sidebar in konqueror might be a good idea. personally, =
i'd=20
prefer a context sensitive drag zone in konqueror that is always visible an=
d=20
which complements a sidebar.=20
