I would like to say "good idea". I think a unified way of creating
tabbed windows in KDE would be a definate boost for KDE in general. It
would stop the taskbar getting cluttered and tabbed windows are *much*
quicker and easier to use than grouped programs on the task bar
because grouped icons require two clicks where tabs need just one and
the title of each tab is automatically displayed. (if it already
exists then that's good but developers should be encouraged to use it.
If someone wants to take it on themselves to show KDE developers how
to impliment it then that would be great)

If tabbed windows are introduced into more KDE programs then may I
suggest some guidelines:
1) always provide a "detatch tab" button or a horizontal (or vertical)
split like in konqueror for when files need to be brought up on the
same screen. Detatch tab would be easiest but I noticed that in
konqueror, I had to add the button myself on the toolbar. Maybe a
"detatch" button next to the little close tab button on the right hand
side would be a neat addition
2) Some kind of more efficient way of opening files from other
programs would be good. I use an 800MHz PC for some of my work so I
*notice* when things are being slow. When I have Konqueror set to open
links in new tabs, I notice that(when I open my hotmail inbox from
Kopete for example) it spins the hard-drive for a while as if it's
loading a new instance of konqueror before it realises it's already
open and uses the existing window with a new tab. I don't know if it
would be possible to have something to intercept any commands from
other programs before they're allowed to try and open up a new
instance..... This isn't really a "tabbed window" thing but I just
thought I'd bring it up as an idea for a general performance tweak.

I can't think of anything else at the moment so I'll just say "good idea" again
