With the current behavior, with the RMB "Move to trash" already bringing up a confirmation dialogue, why not utilize that to find out what the user wants to do with the file? So, instead RMB menu saying "Move to trash" it could be called "Remove File{folder, etc} and the confirmation dialog asking "Do you really want to move this item to the trash?" with options of "Trash" and "Cancel" it could ask instead "what would you like to do with this file (folder, link, etc)" with options of "Send to trash," "Permanently Delete," and "Cancel Removal" The default button focus for this dialogue probably should be cancel or move to trash. If a user is feeling frisky, she could check the "Don't ask me again" box and the default will then be set without nagging the user each time. This I think is a good compromise as it allows both functionalities to remain directly present in the gui without adding to the kcontrol mess and it keeps the RMB menu clean. Any other thoughts?
