I might add; I don't know if any of the "advantages" I listed is enough to 
entitle a change. On the other hand, if a reluctance to change the interface 
always resides, improvements no matter how small will never happen. Wonder 
where the threshold is.

As a side note, the reboot and poweroff icons would be disabled when logout is 
the only alternative, to communicate they are non-selectable. They would have 
(variating) quick helps.
