Yes it is. I use it quite often.
For example in the API docs:
I visit a class, follow links... Then I want to keep the current page
but also want to go back in the history to open another class at the
same time: I duplicatee the tab to keep the current class page on hand.
And I finish with 3 or 4 tabs with the useful class I need for the
curent work I'm doing.

I could ask you if this is really useful too.
I don't use it, don't know in which cases use it and this tread is all
about the troubles it introduce.
Why not delete the feature (or not put it in the popup menu) and we've
solved the problem?
