Actually, although I think that the KCM could use a some minor changes, there
still needs to be a Home URL setting (as it currently is) but this would
probably be better called Default Home URL. This is what would be used if the
profile didn't have a URL saved in it.

Yes, this could be accomplished by using bookmarks, however, it is a way of
directly accessing the URL saved in the profiles and therefore it is more useful
than doing the same thing with a bookmark folder. And, as an additional comment
pointed out, this allows you to access these URLs without changing the profile
although I'm not sure if that is needed.
I wouldn't say that I am biased about this, but I would say that I wouldn't
probably be making use of this feature much (I don't save a URL in the
webbrowsing profile) so I really am just trying to facilitate finding out what
other users want or need -- my personal opinion about this is that I don't need
the feature, but others seem to think they do.
