I've never done that. Most beginners likely never would even bother to learn
how to do it, either. Browse through some of the screenshots at Looky and
you'll see that most KDE users--newbie or advanced--don't get rid of the
toolbar buttons.
Konqy isn't alone in not labeling toolbar items, either. Firefox and Safari do
not label them. The current way is better because it's more consistent across
applications. Konqueror is the most-used KDE component and must certainly
follow the same UI standards that we expect other KDE apps to follow.
