Nope. The automatic activation including the gray part is a major usability 
enhancement, because it relieves one from having to lift one's right hand 
from the keyboard, and aim for the end key.

If you don't like that, you can always change an address bar's behaviour to 
default to a combobox.

KDE defaults to the combo box which means that the normal user is not 
affected. One has to advertently switch it on, so one cannot claim it caught 
him in the cold.
