Hum. the patchs seem good and I love them.

But not at 100 % :

Have you already used GNOME ???
It's a lot of pain to configure the pannel and add applets !
And sometimes it's not possible !
Because applets do not include pannel menu.

- At university we are forced to use GNOME on some PCs. A lot of guys
abandon to customize theire GNOME pannel because the menu isn't
reachable. Obviously, I've looked them and they try to right clic THE
PANNEL. After all, they want to add/move/remove somthing to the
*pannel*. Not a precis place : on an empty space, a button, an applet...
They someties retry on other place and cray it's not possible to
customize ! Note : we are studdents on computing sciences. Not newbees !
- A friend removed all those applets, taskbar... to only keep TWO
buttons (a la Window Maker) : the GMenu and another button (to see full
screen xmatrix screensaver in place of a background image ; and he use
multi-desktops to arrange its windows without taskbar).
I've also tried... but now he CAN'T customize his pannel.
- I don't like the random "add extra space to allow right click". Too
uggly and it's a lost of space. Even more when users just try to right
click the pannel : they willn't search a small empty space (it will even
be worst if the space is big or a big warning popup to notice the user
he can click here (and ONLY here) to add applets LOL).
After searching few minutes I've finnaly see that the arrow button IS a
sort of empty space : it's actually works. But it's not obvious and / or
related (but we can hide this button).

So, the "Pannel menu" IS RIGHT WHERE IT IS for me (and not out of
topic).
We musn't remove it IMHO.
