Traditionaly computers "spoke" english and there are many terms that have been incorporated into many languages, even when a "simple" translation exists. Also some resposability for the success or failure of this system will be in the hands of the transaltors. Some one word english keywords will need to be translated to mutiple words on other languages and the oposite might also be true. To demonstrate this complexity, take the keyword "Desktop". In portuguese this is usualy translated to "Ambiente de Trabalho" (which in turn translates back to english as "workspace") but I've seen some users refer to it as "Ecrã" (Screen). However there are many portuguese users that use the english word "Desktop". A quick pool here in the office: 2 users refer to it as "Desktop" and one as "Ambiente de Trabalho". -- Rui Malheiro --------------enigFB7415AAC10D0FEE16E698EC Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.9.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFAPjDW6xZVe81Ht3gRAmx2AJ90kKh7f3On0rIaQDppmrOR7DCpWwCdEyWT PAapU3ofMKUJQzgTSSys8YE= =p+Dg -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enigFB7415AAC10D0FEE16E698EC-- --===============1955256408== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline _______________________________________________ kde-usability mailing list kde-usability@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-usability --===============1955256408==--
