which is why i said, "if the style implements them nicely". if the separator 
is a big baroque "chisel" into the toolbar then it looks pretty ugly. but if 
they are simply a visual hint with a good amount of space they work rather 
well.

btw, have you tried the patch out? anyone interested in helping me test on 
people? something like:

launch kwrite w/lineseps and have the use select tasks from the toolbar:
	o Using the toolbar at the top of the window, save the document
	o Using the toolbar at the top of the window, zoom in
	o Using the toolbar at the top of the window, undo your last action
	o Ask for comments on how easy it was to find items

repeat with different user w/out lineseps.

note that this can be done WITHOUT recompiling KDE. it can be done even with a 
binary build by editting the appropriate katepartui.rc file
