if our defaults are better than they are now, then distros will have less to 
do. this means:

 o KDE is cheaper for them, ergo more attractive
 o KDE is more consistent across distributions, which is good for KDE's 
marketing.

the fact that distros have to customize KDE is a Bad Thing(tm). i really don't 
want to see KDE end up as GNOME has with Blue Curve, XD2 and Sun JDS all 
heavily customizing the desktop into unrecognizability just because the 
default settings are so horrid.
