In fact I think the "janitor" name is better for a number of reasons.
One is that a similar project has done lot of good to the linux kernel,
so it is not a completely new concept.

The other is that the goal (or one of the goals) is to tidy up the various kde 
projects, to notice inconsistencies and bugs and to suggest solutions, or 
simple patches, so there is the analogy stuff.

Another is that an altisonant name like "Quality assurance team" is going to 
attract the wrong kind of people, with probably the wrong expectations from 
the involvement.

Finally, I think the name is not too serious, which is good.
