I dont't think this is very usefull, because press Ctrl+B (for Bold) is
much faster to switch to bold. Just imagine: you write something, than
you want e.g. a header to be bold, you press Ctrl grab the mouse, move
to the toolbar and select bold. That's simply too long. Instead of a
toolbar a short menu would be much faster to access.

You write a word press the tab button, select in the menu which appears
e.g. 'last word bold' or 'last sentence bold', the command sets the last
word to bold and you just go on writing.

I think that's a much better solution and much faster too.
