Has anyone considered having toolbars being displayed directly below the
cursor when a certain key is pressed?

In the case of textediting (or rather: something manipulating specific
content located in the view pane) this would save alot of time moving
the cursor up to the toolbar and back just to select a style (bold,
italic, a font, size, etc..).

An example:

You're using kword to type some text. The next word you're going to type
should be in bold. Usually you'd go all the way back to the toolbar,
select Bold, type the next word, go back to the toolbar and deselect
Bold (ignoring the available keyboard shortcuts).

Now, instead of doing all the mousing about you'd press (for example)
Ctrl and a toolbar will be displayed directly below your cursor. You
select Bold, type the word, deselect Bold and press Ctrl once again to
make the toolbar disappear.
