Ahem, the separated symbol view and tree view buttons are *very* convenient as
they allow a quick switch between either representation. For instance, the
Tree View will always default to the tree view profile that was active the
last time, the same analogy holds true for the symbol view. Packing them into
a button with a menu with dozens of equal views (exaggerating, but extensions
will make it true in the future) reduces usability.

Today it is:
Click [Tree View] -> tree view of last selected settings

In the future it will be:
Click [View] -> look where your dedicated tree view is located -> aim for it
- -> click it.

I often switch about tree view/symbol view/cervisia, so the separate buttons
are a major time saver.

This is not an issue if there will exist a means to retain the buttons groups
as they are now. If every view is crammed into one submenu, handling becomes
more difficult (then we'd better think about removing the view button at all
and leave it up to the view menu, that'd really save space).

However, if you plan a solution that doesn't take more clicks than the current
one, and also doesn't mandate any mouse drags, then I'd support the idea.
