I think this will result that even more people double click because when they 
see the icon they want to open, they move the mouse pointer to it and click 
directly twice on it before they even (can) see that it's underlined by mouse 
over. What you suggest works in more cases by very slow people. So if there 
is a situation where have much slow people and you want to migrate from a 2 
click interface to the one click interface of KDE then the solution you 
suggest may be useful I think.
