Then try to translate it and you will see, that "Recently used apps" for 
instance in german is "Die zuletzt verwendeten Programme" which is a very 
long string for a menu-title.

'Most used applications' would be "Die am häufigsten benutzten Programme".

(both translations are taken from the translated panel-preferences) 

The word "Quickstart Menu" is taken from that preferences, too, so it's 
already a KDE-term. (in german "Schnellstart Menu")
Look under Panel-> Preferences -> Menu -> "Quickstart Menu Items".
