the contrast between un-selected desktops and windows is very high, and i find
this causes my eye to drift to the unselected desktops rather than make it
easy to pick out the currently selected desktop. it also means that when i
have desktops with maximized windows, they look similar to the selected
desktop! i'd suggest inverting the selected and unselected desktop
backgrounds in the previews, with a lighter colour for unselected desktops
and a darker colour for the selected desktop.

note that this is also how the GNOME pager does it...

another nice thing to add to previews is the ability to DnD windows between
desktops use the pager, but that's less of a cosmetic function and more of a
feature wish =)
