What about a nice glowing OSD - Message in the upper right corner of the
screen? (on top of all windows, but gets no focus)
Something like the desktop-names in windowmaker that appear when you change
the virtual desktops.
There exists some code, search for "[PATCH] On Screen Display" on
"kde-core-devel"
