Anyway... Problem: * The number of possible tasks are enormous! * Many of KDEs best features are hidden. Solution: * Give the user reasonable subset. * Add good searching among all task descriptions (kio_slaves, servicemenue= s, applications, commands, howtos...) * This search function can be placed in minicli/desktop (I will try to do a mockup) * "How? " * A "How" search opens a _new_ window were it is possible to read the descriptions. Select one and press OK -> applicaton name is copied back to minicli to be able to run it with another user name and priority. Problem: * Every user needs a different task subset. Solution: * When the user first logs in (s)he is gets an "registration" page. What kind of tasks do you daily perform? [] Office tasks (word processing, spread sheets) [] Graphic content creation (art, diagram, ...) [] Develop computer programs [] Have contact with others over internet [] - - - This selections results select which tasks should be on the short list. Each task has a priority, from the daily set select the ten highest. Problem: * An users application usage patterns changes over time. Solution: * There has to be a dynamic section - like recent tasks/documents Problem: * Some tasks are performed so often that they have an assigned keyboard shortcut, but they are hard to find. * The user won't learn the name of the applications, he will be lost on a non TOM desktop. Solution: * "flash" the application name, an d assigned shortcut if any on start. (no need to have it in the task description. :-) /RogerL =2D-=20 Roger Larsson Skellefte=E5 Sweden _______________________________________________ kde-usability mailing list kde-usability@mail.kde.org http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-usability
