I saw this kind of thing demoed at an MS roadshow recently for the tablet PCs 
and their handwriting recognition software.

They were suggesting automated attachment of hand written text instead of 
typing a message. I was horrified at the waste of bandwidth when they were 
touting the package as something which converts handwritten text to ASCII, 
but having just finished doing some ASCII art to explain something via 
e-mail, perhaps this is a good idea if it is used properly.

I suppose purpose here is slightly different...
