In regards to 2. I recently discovered that you can disable the showing of Icons on the background (in HEAD atleast) and when you do this it removes the icon related entries from the context menu. I only discovered this as I was trying to turn off the underlining of file names, which is an option that seems to have dissappeared...

Regards,
Jason

I can buy that. But then I think we should do another little change.

1)
* Does the background have an icon text? "Background Icon Text"
 Or more fundamentally:
* Are icons placed on the background a part of the background?

In contrast: Background Picture, Color, Blending, Program and Memory usage
are clearly related to the background.

2) If fewer people uses icons on the background - why does then the RMB
menu have an entry named "Icons" - Sort, Line Up, Align
That this option is easy to access in a folder is correct but it must be
one of the least used feature on the Desktop

3) And why are most options in Configure Desktop... -> Behavior related to
icons or other stuff placed on the desktop?
(Only "Enable desktop menu" and group "Clicks on Desktop" are not related)
My gut feeling for what a Behavior is is not IF a device icon should
be shown, but what happens when I click it.

This leads to my grand plan...

* Bring the pieces together to an icon under new Configure Desktop... icon.
- Call it "Desktop Items"
- Items on the desktop should be accessible by using RMB
on "Show Desktop Button", probably also the whole Desktop Menu...
- The difficult part is how to implement the "Sort, Line Up, ..."
  functionality.

Motivation: Background is like the Mouse pad - nifty but hardly important
in its own right. The items you have on your desktop are those you want to
use regularly or those you like to know where they are.

Why is the "Configure Desktop..." window called "Settings - KDE Control
Module"
