kaboodle and noatun are not so clearly different - to most users, their
primary purpose appears to be almost exactly the same - play mp3s.

in reality, if kaboodle is what it is proclaimed to be, it should not be an
explicity started application - it should be either embedded, or started
outside the start menu by another program to do a task, for example, konq.

kwrite's primary purpose is not an embedded viewer. what's more, kword does
not always exist - only if you install koffice.

to be quite honest though, i think having 3 basic (read "not rich") text
editors (kwrite, kedit and kate) is a bit ott.

they do indeed have subtly similar purposes, but basically kwrite completely
overshadows kedit and kate essentially overshadows kwrite.

variety is the spice of life and choices are good and everything, but do we
really need a _whole_submenu_ devoted to text editors?

perhaps we could propell one text editor in particular (e.g. kwrite/kedit) as
_the_ text editor and put everything else in a submenu for those who want
them? or maybe move kate to "Development"? and have kedit and kwrite as
"Utils"? /me bites his tongue - he remembers what happened last time he made
an alternate suggestion... ;-)

first time users i have met rarely want so much choice and as a long-time user
i know which editor i want to use and i would rather have the others out of
my way.
