From kde-usability Tue Aug 27 11:37:05 2002 From: Frederik Himpe Date: Tue, 27 Aug 2002 11:37:05 +0000 To: kde-usability Subject: KDE Taskbar: grouping similar tasks X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-usability&m=103044835017138 Now the taskbar is set by default to group similar tasks. This did not seem very intuitive to my father coming from a Win2000 environment (although the problem was worsened heavily by the fact that several instances of OpenOffice.org were grouped as "VCLSalFrame", a problem which should be fixed now according to http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=4830). I think we should leave on this option by default, as it is very good when you have a lot of windows open. But, I think the grouping should only be done when there is need to, when the entries in the taskbar would become too small to read them. Now it is rather confusing and unnecessary to group two instances of Konqueror when you haven't opened any other applications. For example start grouping tasks when the buttons would become smaller than 120px otherwise.
