I would suggest an animation, blinking icon or
something like that instead. As others have said on
this mailing list, its a bad idea to use colors
because they may have diferent cultural significanice.
For example, I would interpet red as either "Stop" or
'Warning/Danger". Basically good idea to show that an
item has been added. It may even draw user attention
to the Klipper so they can actually make use of the
history function.

Klipper only has three tabs: Clipboard History,Actions
"control" and keyboard shortcuts. What kind menus are
you refering to?

I also agree that the Klipper stay because it's useful
assuming you know its even there. Some sort of
non-intursive acknowledgement would be subtle way to
show activity and maybe get people to investigate it
when they're not doing omething else.

On a similar note I think clicking on the Klipper
while its properties menu should close it. I think it
would be a like strange for a user to not be able to
close the menu directly. This behavior is present in
almost every other icon that appears on the kicker and
taskbar.
