It's almost like spyare, no offense to your idea.

It's like "KDE Corporation" is taking a central database of users and their 
settings and their personal information so marketing can target them.

While settings and registration of users is nice for a beta tester using KDE,  
I don't think this is appropriate at all if we're doing something for a 
release version.  We'll be collecting possibly sensitive information about 
users.  They'll be sending information to us.  This not only has a lot of 
legal implications, but also has the possibility of causing a lot of outlash 
from the community about privacy issues.
