This "feature" is ridiculous, I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been brought up
until now. I have no justification for this, nor have I ever. I'd be
surprised and _very_ intrigued to hear from anybody that does.

I understand fully; I'm all in favour of the "windows way" -- when it is also
the best way. But if there is a better way of doing something, as there
often is, there's no reason that KDE shouldn't do it the better way -- that's
what the Windows configuration in kpersonaliser is for, and that's what makes
KDE so great. A bad feature, copied for any reason, remains a bad feature,
and an unnecessary flaw in KDE.
