this is a very good solution for the text-based use cases (is that all it is 
used for currently? because there are some more sophisticated usages for KPP 
atm, such as icons, custom widgets, etc...) ... so this could well be a good 
solution for current usage.

but since it is more flexible than a KNotification (as far as i understand, 
anyways), we still need to deal with the other issues in the meantime ...

so now to make the necessary knotify patches =)
