That's something I've wondered myself. Why is there a special Menu Editor when 
menu's are stored as folders and .desktop files? Why not just expose this 
folder/.desktop structure via Konqueror?

If seeing "/home/user/.kde/share/appnk/Multimedia" in the Konqueror address 
bar is too stressful for a user, why not implement a kioslave that handles 
URLs like "kmenu:/Multimedia", coupled with a Konqueror navigation panel tab 
which displays the menu tree.

Also, if a kioslave is used, it can hook in with whatever application 
registration is required.
