I think 5-6 task groups on the panel is too much. Instead, they should be
used sparingly for applications that are useful: not useful enough to have
their own button, but important enough to be readily available and
accessible.
I volunteer, for default Panel buttons:
Applications Menu, Console, Text Editor, File Manager, Web Browser, E-Mail
Client, MP3/CD Player, and a Submenu for Office Applications.
After the taskbar, I'd put a link to KControl as well.
