Stefan,
It would appear that the SANE libraries/utilities included under
"/opt/fsw4sun" to go along with your KDE distribution do not work with USB
scanners. However, the bits of SANE that Sun included between "/opt/sfw" and
"/usr/sfw" do appear to work just perfectly fine with my USB scanner.
P.S. It seems like there are a bunch of things in /opt/fsw4sun that are also
included with Solaris 10 (some require software companion CD). It also seems
like I need to put /optfsw4sun first in my path for everything in KDE to work
correctly (as you built against that stuff), but I often need to change that
path when doing anything else, since the /opt/fsw4sun stuff seems
broken/weird occasionally as compared with /opt/sfw,/usr/sfw stuff.
-Derek
