I have the same problem on my SPARC machines (Solaris8 and Solaris9)
with KDE-3.1.94 and KDE-3.1.95 compiled with gcc3.3.2.

On the Solaris x86 machines there is no problem to start konqueror via
the K-Menu !

BTW: on the x86 systems I use the XFree86 server and get _much_
better fonts. I plan to switch to the XFree86 server on the SPARC
machines too.
