G'day,
i tried getting KDE 3.0.1 going today on my sun blade 100 running solaris \
8. I grabbed pre-made pkg's from;
http://telia.dl.sourceforge.net/mirrors/kde/stable/3.0.1/Solaris/Solaris8
they all seemed to install okay, i did change the default root path though \
to /export/home, as /opt is well and truely full. The only thing i did get \
a partial fail on was some qt files were owned by a user unknown to my \
system.
anyway that aside, KDE partial starts ie goes to the grey background screen \
then logs out to dtlogin before bringing up the little blue loading screen. \
To get it to even do that i had to edit the \
/usr/dt/config/C/Xresources.d/Xresources.kde3 file as it had the line;
Dtlogin*altDtKey: /usr/sepp/bin/startkde-3.0-to
which made no sence to me, and /usr/sepp doesn't exist so i changed it to;
Dtlogin*altDtKey: /export/home/opt/kde3/bin/startkde
which allowed me to atleast select KDE as an option from the dtlogin.
but like i said before KDE doesn't actually start, if i try running \
startkde from within CDE as my user i get;
diomedes@Dexter:~: startkde

Error: Can't contact kdeinit!
ld.so.1: artsshell: fatal: libstdc++.so.4: open failed: No such file or \

diomedes@Dexter:~:
can someone please shed some light as to how i might correct this.
kind regards,
Matthew Day
