Greetings,

I recently installed KDE 2.2.1 on my Solaris 8 Sun Blade 100 server. I
installed also qt 2.3.1. The main kde packages installed properly,
however some failed due to the way that Sun Microsystems set up the
servers, when purchased from them (did not rebuild it) - kdetoys failed
for example. No biggie though, but when I load kde from the login
prompt, it loads up and tells me:
    "Can not load docking item"
in a pop up box.

KDE control center fails to work abnd pops up a box which under the
first tab titled "General" displays:
    Short Description
"The application KDE Control Center (kcontrol) crashed and caused
    the signal 11 (SIGSEGV).
    What is this?
An application mostly receives the SIGSEGV signal due to a bug in
the application. The application was asked to save its documents.
    What can I do?
You might want to send a bug report to the author. Please include
as much information as possible, blah blah blah. . .. "
Under the "Backtrace" tab it says:
"gdb not found. Check if it is installed, you need it to generate
backtraces.
If you have another debugger, contact kde-devel@kde.org for help on
how
    to set it up."
And the box just sits there (the one that popped up) Loading Symbols....

and just sits there.

I installed the dejagnu-20000314-sol8-sparc-local package from
sunfreeware, which failed to work
as the gdb debuger. So I installed gdb-5.0-sol8-sparc-local.:
    [root] system3:/usr/local/src#which gdb
    /usr/local/bin/gdb
    [root] system3:/usr/local/src#gdb -v
    GNU gdb 5.0
Copyright 2000 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

conditions.

This GDB was configured as "sparc-sun-solaris2.8".
    [root] system3:/usr/local/src#
but the error still is there!

All the images on the bar across the bottom do not work, and are not
there, no errors in
/var/adm/messages

As well, my gaim crashes all the time. Oddly enough, at work, I
installed kde the same exact
way on a Sun Ultra 5 sparc running Solaris 8 too and it worked properly,
I did the same here
and have run into a truck load of problems.

Can anybody help? Is there any other information I should supply, and if
so, where would it be
located?

Thanks for any help.
