Me, Helio, Dirk and Bille had a BoF discussing what distros need in KDE 4.1 to allow us to retire KDE 3, the whiteboard had the following list of wishlist items. * Multiple KConfig backends, especially LDAP * Improved themeing so distros can set their own look customisations * System Settings Unix tools integration (possibly with Guidance KDE 4 * port) * Make KDM work, including consolekit patch * Fix KControl root privilages, preferably with PolicyKit On the application front the priorities are * Plasma feature parity with KDE 3 equivalents * PIM * Power manager * Network manager * Kiosktool (Dirk has some ideas on how this should be rewritten) Finally we all use .kde4 for $KDEHOME, SuSE has no plans to move back to .kde ever. It would be nice to have an option for a one time move of KDE 3 settings. Possible .kde4 should be used upstream.
