Subject: [kde-redhat-users] Getting a KDE4 session on F8
Message: 1

Hi,

I'd like to try out KDE4 on a virtual machine running F8. I've
installed the basic kde packages from the dev repo (see list below),
but I'm not offered KDE as a session choice in gdm. I also tried a
'yum groupinstall KDE', but this seems to pull in KDE3 stuff. Is there
something equivalent to the gnome-session package for KDE?

Cheers,

Andreas

Do we know whether there is a similar patch to cdrdao? I also have the
problem there.

kdebase-workspace.

Fwiw, you may need to use != gdm, as I've heard reports of rawhide's
version not supporting xsession-defined desktops properly (though it may
be fixed/working by now).

It's not that, but that kio_audiocd uses cdparanoia-lib, which locks the
device exclusively, so other things (like cdrdao, etc...) can now longer
access the device(s) at all.
