Yes, 64-bit firefox works as mentioned in my original post.

Ah ... according to this:

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146784

You have to downgrade to that specific version. To quote "The way to
fix this is to downgrade to official 9.0.r31 flash plugin.", which is
what I presume Rex is using.

OK ... I actually had 9.0r31 before, which did not work with 64-bit
konq... so I tried the latest, which is 9.0.48, which also does not
work with 64-bit konq.

I tried reverting back to 9.0r31, and still does not work with 64-bit
konqueror. Just to make sure, although I did not mention earlier, I
also have "/usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/x86_64/linux" as the first
directory to scan for plugins in konqueror. "/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins"
is also listed, where it has a symbolic link to the flash plugin.

Also:

$ nspluginwrapper --list
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
  Original plugin: /usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so
  Wrapper version string: 0.9.91.2

At all times, it worked with 64-bit firefox.

Just a few minutes after I posted the above, I looked at another
directory and decided to add that as well, which has the flash wrapper
plugin:

$ ls -alt /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/
total 532
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 69696 2007-06-23 23:50 npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root    61 2007-06-23 23:44 npwrapper.so ->
../../../../usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/x86_64/linux/npwrapper.so
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root  4096 2007-06-07 03:10 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root  4096 2007-06-07 03:10 ..
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 50248 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-basic-plugin.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 84944 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-complex-plugin.so

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 49960 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-mully-plugin.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 74080 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-narrowspace-plugin.so
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   191 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-basic-plugin.xpt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  3251 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-complex-plugin.xpt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  4504 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-gmp-plugin.xpt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   191 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-mully-plugin.xpt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  2235 2007-04-24 00:55 libtotem-narrowspace-plugin.xpt

Added that as the second entry ... and finally, it works in 64-bit konqueror!

There is a problem with kmail and applying filters to mail.

There already exists a bug report at:

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126182

Rex... I took the liberty of adding you to the CC list.

This is as far as I got. If you find a remedy for the missing
title/borders issue please post.

Thanks,
