Hi,

running 'update all favicons' from the bookmark editor doesn't help.
Only some favicons are shown (bookmarked or not).
/var/tmp/kdecache-petzold/favicons/ contains only the favicons that
are shown, so at least that is consistent. Really strange :-(

Cheers,

Andreas

Hello Rex,

Do you have any idea what's the source of this [1] error breakage?
(I wonder if the Null part is a bug within yum itself?)

See /etc/yum.conf and look for
distroverpkg=...
The version of *that* package is what is used to substitute the value of
$releasever inside of *.repo files. It seems it's not evaluating it
properly and returning "Null" instead of the version of fedora you're using.

uh huh.

I can't get kde to display/use any *.ico file either. See the thread
back in late Jan titled "Unable to open icon files".

For example, trying to use kuickshow (from konsole), I get:

$ kuickshow favicon.ico
IMLIB ERROR: Cannot load image: /.../favicon.ico
All fallbacks failed.

Baaah.
No go.

$ cat /etc/yum.conf  | grep distroverpkg
distroverpkg=redhat-release

I assume that it doesn't look like a kde-redhat specific issue....

No. Is $releasever spelled correctly in your .repo file? (:

I can't find a resolution to this problem mentioned in that thread.

I'm now at work and can't check on my home box. The strange thing is
that at work I also have a new machine with FC6/kde 3.5.6 but with a
very old .kde and there it works fine and also kuickshow works for
favicons. And also at home, some favicons are shown. I guess for a
start I'll kompare the output of 'rpm -qa' between the machines tonight

Cheers,

Andreas

I spoke too soon. While konqueror displays the icons that are stored
as png in /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER/favicons, I actually get the IMLIB
ERROR when I want to display a real .ico file.

So I suppose that konqueror does display what's already there in
/var/tmp/kdecache-$USER/favicons but nothing new gets added. Except
for a few icons like that of atrpms (why?? Is it already a png?).

This behavior probably reflects the fact that I ran 3.5.5 on my box at
work for a while before upgrading to 3.5.6. So konqueror is still
living off favicons stored when the mechanism was still working.

[Sigh]

Andreas
