Hi,

I should have mentioned that it should also play embedded videos
within konqueror.

I installed kplayer and then kaffeine.

When I had kaffeiner, konqueror would popup errors saying something
like "Unable to handle plugin ... blah...". So I uninstalled it, and
konqueror seems to be using kplayer, and konqueror is behaving a lot
better with embedded videos within a web page.

Have not tried it externally, but if player will within the browser,
then I am happy.

Because mysql seems to be a requirement for amarok according to this:
Dependencies Resolved

and I don't think a music player should require a full rdbms...

Anyway I asked about noatun...I appreciate you telling me it's not that great
of an application, but it doesn't require MySQL.

Stictly speaking, amarok only requires/uses the mysql-client libs. IMO,
it's a fault in fedora's mysql packaging that the client bits also pull
in the full *server* portion too.

noatun is no longer maintained, AFAIK. As another poster suggested, I'd
recommend you use kaffeine as a replacement for noatun. Alternatively,
mplayer, with or without the kmplayer front end, will handle most multimedia
formats far better than noatun (or kaffeine) would.

Amarok is a full fledged music management app, designed to handle a collection
of music from multiple sources (web, hard drive, media players, etc.). It
uses sqlite by default, but can also connect to mysql (or posgresql, I
think), which I'd guess is where the mysql requirement comes from.

You may also want to look at juk, which is not as full-featured as amarok, and
should have far fewer requirements for installation.

A lot has changed in 2 years WRT multimedia in KDE. If you tell us
specifically what are you trying to use noatun for, perhaps we'll be able to
help you choose a better app.

Regards,
Tim

OK.. you needed the kaffeine-mozilla plugin, not sure if its available as an
RPM though.

It is from kde-redhat, haven't submitted to Extras yet.

mplayerplug-in works for me... although I don't tend to use kaffeine...
$ rpm -qi mplayerplug-in

What does kaffeine-mozilla do that mplayerplug-in doesn't?

Thanks,

I should of said that you need the kaffeine-mozilla plugin for Kaffeine and
