Subject: [kde-redhat-users] No access to devices by hal from x-terminal
Message: 1

Hello,

I try to use a flash-card reader on a remote host while login in a
x-terminal. So I am login in kde installed on computer A while I am in
front of a monitor, keyboard and mouse on computer B.
The following error happend if I try to mount the flash-card reader by
hal:
"A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this
message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file
(rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume"
member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.HAL)"

Does anybody knows what I have to enter
in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf or somewhere else on computer A to
allow a user login by a x-terminal to mount devices by hal?
Thank you.

hal-0.5.8.1-6.fc6
dbus-1.0.1-9.fc6
kdebase-3.5.6-3.fc6

regards
Olaf

I solved this now by adding "plugdev" to /etc/group and by setting the
users as members of plugdev.
