Subject: [kde-redhat-users] missing yum headers for CentOS 4.3 stable?
Message: 2
I am trying to upgrade a CentOS 3.8 box to CentOS 4.3.
The machine has kde-redhat 3.5 installed. I am having
problems finding the yum repo for CentOS 4.3 kde-redhat.
Judging by the yum error message:
Server: kde
retrygrab() failed for:
http://kde-redhat.unl.edu/apt/kde-redhat/centos/4.3/i386/stable/headers/header.info
Executing failover method
failover: out of servers to try
It looks like headers/header.info is missing at the
following location:
http://kde-redhat.unl.edu/apt/kde-redhat/centos/4.3/i386/stable/
Perhaps someone could either point me at a valid url for yum
or create the missing file(s)?

I'm guessing somehow it is just you. No one else has reported this, and
yum (still) WORKSFORME.
You could try a more drastic
rm -rf /var/cache/yum/kde*

Try:
http://kde-redhat.unl.edu/apt/kde-redhat/centos/4/i386/stable/
Though I *thought* we had 4.3 4.4 symlinks in place.

??? That's the old-style yum-1.x headers, which we don't provide.
Are you using yum? or trying up2date?
My CentOS 4.4 boxes have yum-2.4.3.

I'm not at 4.x yet, I am running 3.8 with yum-2.0.8-2.centos3.
yum will get upgraded as a result of "yum upgrade" but at
this point it appears to want header.info before it can get that far.

OK, I was confused by Subject mentioning CentOS 4.3
If you're still at 3.8, I'd suggest upgrading the core os bits first,
then upgrade the kde-redhat parts.

If you tell the xine backend to use the alsa driver directly rather than have
amarok pick the which driver automtically, all should be well.

Oh, by the way, xine-lib-extras can now be reinstalled. Apparently a couple of
dependencies have been updated; libfreebob and jack-audio-connection-kit.
Unfortuneately, akode-extras has gone missing and kdemultimedia-extras-nonfree
cannot be installed without it.
