This will be interesting, not sure if i made it clear but my problems started
with kde-red 3.5.4 > 3.5.5.
Out of interest I tested this again today with the same results, so I
downgraded back to 3.5.4, and to fix the broken stuff in 3.5.4 after the
downgrade I had to downgrade kdeartwork, which for some reason was left @
3.5.5

Indeed, same on this box in that quite a few fc4 packages where left, I found
Smarts GUI very handy for this :)

Well that will probably be OK.
Will you be trying to update to kde-3.5.5 after that (assuming you don't have
testing enabled)? this will be most interesting for me :)

Out of all this you may guess I am trying to avoid a "Fresh FC6 Install" could
be my only hope though..

gtk-qt-engine is in Extras. I should be able to rebuild baghira.

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] apt metadata generation, drop it?
Message: 7

Recent versions of apt (0.5.15lorg3 and newer?) can use repodata (the
same that yum/smart use), so I'm considering dropping the use of
genpkgdata to create apt-specific repo metadata.

So the question is, are there folks out there using older versions of
apt (centos4?) and/or newer versions pointing to apt metadata? If the
latter, would you be willing to reconfigure apt to use (yum) repodata?

Ok ...  did a "yum -y update" ... I use rpmforge, freshrpms, kde-redhat(stable
only) I have only used testing/unstable once a while back but went back to
stable. I believe it was 147 installed up from the initial 115 guess-timate
total packages.

Now I only have 16 fc4 packages left over that weren't updated.....

Menu items are missing, Panel-->Properties only has one of four selections on
the left, something called xdir_config_dirs-hack.sh runs everytime I login.

So worse off now....

I still see some 3.5.4 packages is this right??

Bummer, that xdg_config_dirs-hack was and attempt to fix the "missing
menus on upgrade" problem. The running every time problem is/should-be
fixed updating to kde-config, see recent kde-config changelog:

* Fri Oct 24 2006 Rex Dieter <rexdieter[AT]users.sf.net> 3.5-8
- kwinrc: PluginLib=kwin_plastik (from kwin_bluecurve)

* Thu Oct 24 2006 Rex Dieter <rexdieter[AT]users.sf.net> 3.5-7
- fixup %%pre/%%post to properly handle kdmrc move
- fix to xdg_config_dirs-hack to prevent it from running *every* login
