Subject: [kde-redhat-users] Scientific Linux and KDE-Redhat
Message: 1

I don't recall seeing it mentioned here, so I thought I would. I
tried installing Scientific Linux today; it's got many things to
discover, and I've barely scratched the surface. Their interest
is to maximize it's applicability to frontier of science
research, so the big emphasis is on things like enterprise-scale
networking, and cutting edge kernels. The stock kernel that was
installed is 2.6.9-#### Less concentration is put on the
look/feel of the desktop, and it came up with KDE 3.3.

But, in most respects, the look and feel and installation is pure
Redhat. It's based on RHEL, so I imported the KDE-Redhat gpg key,
installed the KDE-Redhat Redhat/Redhat Enterprise repo file,
dropped down to level 3, and ran a yum update kde* - all the
KDE-Redhat stuff was pulled in, about 54 packages, and installed
without a glitch. Came right up after a reboot. This looks like
it's going to be some fun -
