I already tried that a week ago, but they are needed by kexi. Then I tried
deleting kexi, too, but it is required by koffice-core.

As you would expect I have update all kde packages except koffice* and now
it works again. I am using unstable, testing and stable.

Will you enable this for unstable? Jut curious. :-)

Being less cryptic, is there any advantage in having koffice compiled
against kdelibs (and company) from unstable?

I hope it makes sense now. :-)

I updated to KDE 3.5.4 last night and the fonts didn't look right. Ended up
having to enable the Anti-Aliasing settings in the Control Center (which did
not seem to work at first, but after waiting a few minutes, new apps were
started with the proper looking fonts).

The only updates that came down last night were of KDE and koffice, so I
suspect something in the KDE update casused the problem...

Can you please try to be a little more vague? (:

Probably not. Hopefully, koffice-1.5.2 will be available from Extras by
then (I only did 1.5.2 because I was impatient).

Well, after sending this I did what I should've done before sending it... I
logged in as another user, and the font problem is there, except the Control
Center settings are the same for that user as they are for mine WRT fonts and
aniti-aliasing.
It looks that some combination of toggling anti-aliasing on/off and logging
out/logging in seems to cure things. (sorry I can't be more definitive on how
to "solve" the problem).
