Oh.. also forgot to mention that dbus was also updated as your probably aware.
Anyway... are you telling me that Hardware Extraction Layer has nothing to do
with arts and the sound card? Things that make you go hmmmm.

Performed the update, but the problem is only slightly altered. When I plug in
my thumb drive, I get the icon on my desktop, but no dialog asking me what
I'd like to do with it. A moment later, a Konqueror window opens but no
contents are displayed. If I right-click the pen-drive icon on the desktop
and select 'mount', I get the shattering glass. I'm not seeing any HAL
related messages now. I'm not testing with the camera I used this am, because
I didn't bring it home, but the principle is the same, I believe.

Ummm,.. seems that I'm getting bitten by the same bug.
Lately (as in since last weekend) I've started losing sound mid-game
during UT2K4.
I've yet to test it under ID games (Quake4, Doom3, ET/RtCW) but I get
the feeling it'll be behave the same.

I'll try to disable arts and see if it helps.
Weird!

I'm maintaining amarok in Extras, if you have bugs or improvements that are
not specific to KDE-RedHat, feel free to file them in bugzilla.

OK, kdenetwork-3.5.2-1.1 (which includes that patch) is in SRPMS.testing

AFAIK, arts and dbus/hal don't interact (directly) at all.

Dunno, kdebase-3.5.2-7.1 simply reverted to the previous patch-set (for
FC4), so it should behave as it did before you upgraded to
kdebase-3.5.2-7.0. If it doesn't, then there's something else at work here.

OK. Thanks.
Once I finish uploading the current batch (which is snailing along at
128kbps... even though my Cable uploads caps at 512kbps... go figure.
Bad server hair day?), I'll build the new kdenetwork RPMs and upload
them.

Thomas, FYI, if you're out there, I'm tired of receiving an error email
from your provider every time a post is made to kde-redhat-users, so I'm
removing you from the list.

Dunno, kdebase-3.5.2-7.1 simply reverted to the previous patch-set (for
FC4), so it should behave as it did before you upgraded to
kdebase-3.5.2-7.0. If it doesn't, then there's something else at work here.

Hi Rex,

I updated to kdegraphics-3.5.2-1.1.fc4.kde from the testing repo and
noticed that the following bug isn't completely fixed:

CHANGELOG (recent):
* Fri May 05 2006 Rex Dieter 6:3.5.2-1.1

- - KGhostview .desktop fix (kde bug #126488)

As stated in the kde bug page, I had to remove the KPart handling in
kghostview.desktop so that "KGhostview" no more appear 2 times in
"Open With" submenu.

Here is the diff:

Hope it will help.

Thanks, I clearly missed that part. kdegraphics-3.5.2-1.2 with fixed
patch coming soon to a repo near you.

OK - I'll keep my eye on the Fedora-list, to see if anything pops up. There
was some discussion of HAL not starting yesterday, but, on my box, it's
definitely running.
