Hi,

I recently updated my CentOS 4.2 machine from KDE 3.4.3 (kde-redhat) to KDE
3.5 (also kde-redhat).
The big problem I encounter is that my control panel only shows an entry fo=
r
kisdndock.
I cannot configure any other KDE setting. Is this a know bug ?

With kind regards,

Jasper van der Marel

when typing kcmshell --list the only module listed is kcmisdndock.
removing .config doesn't work
what must be linked or poked to get my config menu working again ?

Thanks,

Try running in a konsole window:
$ kbuildsycoca

Had you previously used kmenuedit to edit your menus? If so, try
undoing that by renaming or deleting ~/.local

Hi Rex,

I followed your suggestions but no results.
I've also configured one testmachine with a fresh install of CentOS 4.2 and
KDE 3.5 from kde-stable.
This results in the same empty kcontrol centre and only kisdndock listed as
module in kcmshell :

kcmshell --list
De volgende modules zijn beschikbaar :
kcmisdndock - KDE dock application for ISN

On another testmachine I've downloaded some KDE modules form
kde-testing....same results.

I don't know if this only happens on CentOS because I only have CentOS
servers to test with.
If I can help to correct this bug I'm willing to give it some time...

With kind regards,

Jasper van der Marel

I'm a bit stumped then... We're also using CentOS 4(.2) almost
exclusively in our department, and it WORKSFORME.

Just to verify: this problem occurs for *all* users (not just 1) right?

Previously unanswered questions:
1. Had you previously edited menus with kmenuedit?
2. Did you run kbuildsycoca? Did it run successfully without error?
3. Did you rename/remove ~/.local ?

One more thing to try (when no-one is logged in) as root:
rm -rf /var/tmp/kdecache-*

L.S.

kcmkisdndock.so and kcmkisdndock.la are in /usr/lib and kcmshell --list
lists them as registered modules so i can access then in kcontrol. All the
other modules are in /usr/lib/kde3 and are not being found. I added
/usr/lib/kde3 to ldconfig, ran ldconfig -v and even rebooted my machine,
emptied /tmp and ran kbuildsycoca. No results ;(

Hi folks,

I'm trying to add a meanwhile account, but am unable to do so. I'm
guessing that kopete is not detecting my meanwhile libs or that kopete was
not installed with meanwhile support. Any ideas on what I'm missing? I
could probably compile everything from source, but I really don't want to
go that route. Here are the relevant rpms:

kdenetwork-3.5.0-1.0.fc4.kde (which contains kopete 0.11)
meanwhile-1.0.2-1.fc4

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Brandon

Last I checked, kdenetwork(kopete) was incompatible with meanwhile >= 0.5

kdenetwork changelog:
* Sat Nov 12 2005 Rex Dieter 7:3.5.0-0.1.rc1.kde
- kde-3.5.0-rc1
- omit kopete/meanwhile plugin (requires patching for
   meanwhile >= 0.5.0)

Upon further investigation, it turns out meanwhile >= 1.0 and
meanwhile-0.4.2 are paralell installable, so I think we can make this
work.

OK, I think I've got it sorted out, expect to see
libmeanwhile0-0.4.2
kdnetwork-3.5.0-1.3
appear in testing soon.
