Rex,

Were you ever able to compile Kopete with capabilities for connecting with the
meanwhile(sametime) plugin. I have the latest packages for FC3 and I didn't
see that protocol option available to connect with.

Hi All,

Slightly off topic but..

Having just delved into SMB/CIFS I stumbled across Smb4K, which builds fine
with my FC4-kde-redhat Box, it really is a very usefull application :)

Cheers,

Hello All,

Apologize if its being asked millionths of times...unable to find or
missed the info on ML or FAQ.

I believe RHEL 4 use KDE 3.3.x version instead of the latest version and
I would like to upgrade from RHEL3/KDE 3.1.3 to RHEL3/KDE 3.3.x....

I tried to find KDE 3.3.x and am unsuccessful in finding it. Is there
a "previous" final KDE 3.3.2 build that I can download and install? I
know the preferred install method is YUM and APT. I prefer going the
hard route by ftp'ing.

Also I intend to not install everything but the basic like what I have
now...so any HOW TO would be much appreciated.

jon@devtools08 $ rpm -qa | grep kde
kdelibs-3.1.3-6.6
kdebase-3.1.3-5.4
kdeutils-3.1.3-3.1

If RHEL 4 official KDE version *IS* KDE 3.4.x, then I would use that
version too.

The support is *supposed* to be there, but it appears it got left out:
checking for libmeanwhile... no
I'll have to investigate how/why it happened.

We have only the latest version, which is currently kde-3.4.2.

Our only recommended install method is apt/yum, but you're welcome to
venture on your own in uncharted territory. Hopefully the rpm
dependancies will force the "right thing" if done by hand.

Ah, maybe try:

http://www.kde.org/info/3.3.2.php

We uploaded our initial 3.3.2 packages to kde's site.

I downloaded Kopete and compiled it on my system and it appears that Kopete is
using/expecting an older version of the Meanwhile development files... :(

It's a nice program. I comes preinstalled with SimplyMepis a Debian distro I
run on machines I build for newbs - very reliable and low maintenance distro
for non-techies
I had it running for awhile on my FC4 box, but I never managed to get Samba
configured quite right, and it kept choking on shares it couldn't find.
